Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Formal charges have been brought against two men following a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be pepper spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two robbery charges and two counts of using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.
These accusations come after an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Earlier that day, two female travelers had their luggage stolen after getting out of a parking garage elevator, police said.
A toddler was among those injured in the event. Several persons went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
This event – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a brief period.
