Mohamed Salah Extends Apology to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad after the controversy from his televised remarks.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match after criticising the club and suggesting his relationship with manager had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the team's response stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “It's clear there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have stayed unbeaten in the period after the initial controversy. He feels the Salah's words were not intended to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a good place,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and on a positive run.”
