Ex- BBC Consultants Face MPs' Inquiry In the Wake of Claims of Partiality in Disclosed Memorandum
We begin with inquiries from Tory Member of Parliament the committee chair, who leads the group.
She commences by providing details to the disclosed memo written by Michael Prescott and printed in a national newspaper.
"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting toward one side or the other, I just want it balanced, unbiased and just," he states.
In response to a query if he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, he responds: "No I don't. It is important to note, tons of stuff the BBC does is world class - both informative and non-factual content."
However, he continues: "There exists significant effort that needs to be done at the BBC."
Another former external BBC adviser interviewed by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she regards the British Broadcasting Corporation very seriously and that it maintains a "persistent practice and active debate" across evolving and intricate issues.
"Was the BBC ready to engage in a genuine dialogue and argument and act accordingly?" she reflects. "In my view, indeed, they were."
